Hope Rising! was a stellar success. Listen to the Hope Rising!concert on CBC Radio 2On May 3rd, the Foundation hosted its first-ever major fundraising event -- theHope Rising! benefit concert. Over 3,100 people gathered at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto to hear Alicia Keys, K'NAAN, Angelique Kidjo, Rufus Wainwright, and Harry Belafonte, among other acclaimed artists, perform and stand in solidarity with grassroots projects working to turn the tide of AIDS in Africa.

Hope Rising! raised over half a million dollars from ticket sales, individual contributions and sponsorships (particularly from CIBC, our generous presenting sponsor). Over 80% of the costs of the event were offset by extraordinary pro-bono and in-kind contributions. This provides terrifically meaningful support to community-based projects in Africa working to turn the tide of AIDS.
